She attended the Germantown Friends School in the city of Germantown in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood in 1994. She then went on to Harvard College where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1998. Welker is engaged to John Hughes a well-known marketing director for Merck located in Philadelphia and has two children. They started an relationship in the year 2014.
