Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet and a television host as well as a writer and an philanthropist. Originally from Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England together with her family around the age of 16. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The first graduate who was not from the UK to become the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. After her graduation, she became a prominent Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current politics. The fame she gained helped her to convince several famous people to share their opinions about current affairs, culture and politics. Arianna was famous when she decided in 2003 to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the Governor Davis. In addition, she directed the Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes listed her as one of as one of the "most important female" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL properties at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father. But it was her relationship with her mother who formed her. As a child, she showed leadership traits which she is still renowned for. When she was 16 she relocated into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years, where she was the third female to hold the position of president. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. She was a journalist, a TV host as well as a columnist following her graduation. In addition, she appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
