Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only superstar to have crossed from country into the mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift shed her country roots like they were a second skin revealing that she was perhaps the savviest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, one who could harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal and equally impressively do in the opposite direction. These skills were evident on her earliest hits especially the Neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless showed a writer discovering her true identity and in the process, finding an audience of mass. The album ended up with a lot of appeal not just in the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and Belong with Me Belong with Me but throughout the globe, performing especially well in Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior success, and catapulted her into superstardom. The next three years, her popularity increased -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) as well as 1989 (2014-2015) in 2014-2015 as she moved into a arena of pop with her skills already established. It was not long before she altered her plan with 2020's pared-down siblings Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed at the top of the charts.
